In our Holiday Post on December 25th - Supporting Women - Thinking Differently you learned about how I started to thinking differently about supporting women.
What did I do?
STEP 1, ASKED Myself "am I buying from women?"
STEP 2, Asked places I shopped if they were woman owned. (surprisingly almost none)
STEP 3, Made sure to know when I was and wasn't buying from a woman owned business and focused on trying to buy from women too, after all, it's my dollars I'm spending.
STEP 4, Made a list of women owned businesses - www.femmebought.com
Holy moly, what an impact femmebought had, especially during the holidays.
Our Femme Entrepreneurs experienced the power of the purse! (and wallet, we're not a one size fits when it comes to accessorizing ;-) How did it happen -
Using my new knowledge, I began making more informed purchases.
I started telling people about it
The best was when I started hearing from YOU
You told me you were making more informed decisions
You said you were using femmebought information
You sent us femme businesses
You got involved
You became our community connecting consumers to femme Businesses
DO YOU WANT TO WIN THE CHALLENGE? YES, YES, YES
The challenge is tell me -
How are you going to Support Women - Thinking Differently
Are you using your purchasing power to support women businesses?
Are you buying from women, wearing women made goods, eating from women run establishments
And if you're not I'm interested in hearing from you too.
WHY do you care?
Because when you support women by thinking differently everyone wins.
THE BEST STORY WILL BE FEATURED ON OUR BLOG AND SOCIAL MEDIA WITH YOUR PHOTO (if you want a photo included)
A BIT OF INSPIRATION:
I am constantly inspired by women who win. Today I got my inspiration from a from woman CEO and cofounder of Rent the Runway - Jennifer Hyman that was in Fast Company last month - Women Leaders Share Moments of 2017 that Redefined their Roles - "Rent the Runway is committed to offering excellent healthcare for our employees, 70% of whom are women."
The beauty of Jennifer Hyman's quote is that it shows that at Rent the Runway everyone wins, including women but not just women. As it happens at Rent the Runway, 70% of employees are women.
